Joaquin Phoenix – Guru In Veganism

Joaquin Phoenix – Guru In Veganism

Handsome, talented and compassionate; Yes, Joaquin Phoenix is vegan and everybody absolutely adores him. According to Ecorazzi  Actor and vegan activist, Joaquin Phoenix may be unpredictable in interviews, but his commitment to veganism is steadfast. Vegan since the age of three, Phoenix recently recalled the story of how he and his siblings became vegan in an interview with Cover Media.

“There were five kids and we literally screamed at our parents and said, ‘We are never going to eat meat again.’ Because we were on a boat, and they were catching fish, and they were throwing fish against the side of the boat in order to kill them, they are flopping around, so these kids, there were five of us, no there were four of us, one of them was pregnant with my younger sister, and it was undeniable that it was brutal, barbaric and horrible for us, and so we said that. I remember my mum not being to answer and we said, ‘Why didn’t you tell us that’s where meat came from?’ And she didn’t know what to say. I feel like I have this memory of seeing her crying,” says Phoenix.

Longtime vegan and animal rights supporter Joaquin Phoenix used his Oscar-worthy acting skills to make a statement about the brutal slaughter of fish.

In a new PETA video, the actor shows what fish must feel during their final moments when they are suffocating to death. For those worried about seeing an animal suffering, no fish are shown in the video. Just Phoenix as he mimics drowning and explains why fish deserve to be treated better.

The actor said about his first memories of fish and fishing, “My family and I were on a boat, catching fish. As one fish was caught, he was writing, then he was thrown against the side of the boat. You couldn’t disguise what it was. This was what we did to animals to eat them. The animal went from a living, vibrant creature fighting for life to a violent death. I recognized it, as did my brothers and sisters.”

Joaquin won the Humanitarian Award for his work on this documentary at the San Diego Film Festival and was quoted saying that out of all the films he has ever made, this is the one that gets people talking the most and that for every one person who sees Earthlings, they will tell three.

LiveKindly revealed that the upcoming feature-length sequel to Australian animal rights pig-farming exposes the film, “Dominion“ has just released a new trailer and shared the celebrity narrators: none other than the vegan actor and actress, respectively Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara. These two stars are reportedly in a relationship.

Those who watched the fellow vegan documentary, “Earthlings“ will be familiar with the voice of Phoenix, as he also narrated that film, which has inspired high numbers of people to adopt veganism.

The team behind Dominion shared a picture of Phoenix and Mara via their Facebook page, the pair is standing with the director of Earthlings Shaun Monson, who was announced as the newly appointed co-producer of Dominion.

According to the Plant-Based News according to the actor, his brother said: “We shouldn’t be using dairy either. It’s not killing them, but…”

Phoenix admitted he has deviated from the course though – confessing that he ate a pizza at a friend’s house when he was a child. But it didn’t end well.

“I ate that,” Phoenix said, “but I got very sick.”

Caring for these organs through diet and exercise (and sufficient H20) will not only make you feel healthy and happy but make your skin glow. You can care for your whole body and your skin with a few key skin essentials. In order to be successful on a plant-based, vegan diet, it is important to continue to learn and explore ways to create whole-food, plant-based dishes that are well rounded in their complement of vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids.

Health Hub is presenting 18 food for the glowing, vibrant and healthy skin.

Foods are the building blocks that our bodies use to grow, develop, and repair. Healthy, plant-based foods provide the energy and nutrients to do so. If we aren’t eating well, we’re starving our cells or at the very least not giving them the proper tools they need to function at their best. Here are a few of the top foods to keep you looking young and your skin at its finest.

Almonds are packed with vitamin E, an antioxidant that defends against sun damage. Nuts also help us maintain the healthy weight. Those who eat several servings a week are less likely to gain extra pounds.

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are rich in omega 3 essential fatty acids that erase blemishes, soften wrinkles, and help keep the skin hydrated and supple.

These are another vitamin C rich fruit that may also lower the risks of skin cancer.

Lycopene, the compound that gives tomatoes their rich color, is a powerful antioxidant that eliminates skin-aging free radicals from ultraviolet exposure. Fruits and vegetables rich in carotenoids also color our skin with a healthful glow.

Watermelon is a great source of hydration, hence the name, but also another good source of lycopene.

Sweet Potatoes

These orange tubers are packed with carotenoids and vitamin C which boost collagen production. Collagen controls the strength, firmness, and flexibility of the skin.

Spinach is rich in folate, a B vitamin that aids in the repair of DNA and may reduce the risk of skin cancer. Greens like spinach, kale, turnip greens, dandelion leaves, broccoli, and asparagus all are rich in vitamin A, iron, and vitamin K. Iron aids circulation by carrying vital oxygen while vitamin K may help prevent varicose veins.

Citrus are another good source of vitamin C. Vitamin C also fights inflammation.

Red bell peppers contain more vitamin C than an orange, along with other antioxidants. The spicier peppers come packed with capsaicin, a compound that improves circulation and promotes the release of toxins from the skin.

Sesame Seeds

Sesame seeds contain zinc which can reduce the oily sebum that leads to clogged pores.

These roots are filled with vitamin A from carotenoids. Vitamin A prevents the overproduction of skin cells which can lead to clogged pores and skin cancer.

Apples contain quercetin, an antioxidant in the peel that protects against sun damage.

Sunflower Seeds

These seeds are rich in selenium which preserves elastin to keep skin smooth and tight. Selenium acts as an antioxidant too. Sunflower seeds also contain vitamin E which works well with selenium to enhance the effects of both.sun_flower_sunflower_flowers_summer_yellow_helianthus_sun_plant-1017217
